5 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari Uganda Tour: Safari Day by Day
Depart from Kampala driving northwest to Murchison Falls National Park. (optional: Visit the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for a nature walk to see the rare rhinos in the wild.) Lunch in Masindi Hotel.
Proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, the largest protected area in Uganda, with 3.840 Kms, named after the falls on the Victoria Nile. Dinner and overnight at Pakuba safari lodge.
Embark on an early morning game drive on the Northern bank where your guide will help you spot elephants, lions, cape buffalos, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeests, water bucks, Oribis, bushbucks, spotted hyenas and if you are lucky, leopards.
Return to the lodge for breakfast. After lunch, you will safari upstream by boat to the calm Victoria Nile and the base of the falls just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron.”
There you can marvel at toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over the 17-kilometer stretch, you may also see elephants, waterbucks and Uganda kobs.
This is also the habitat for many bird species including goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelican bee-eaters, kingfishers, Hornbills, cormorants, and the rare shoebill stork. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
After breakfast optional: you will go back for the marathon second day of full game drives in the park. This time you will focus on various animals of your choice especially the lions, elephants, and giraffes.
This is another experience that you will not forget so easily. You will have lunch in the afternoon and thereafter be driven to the top of the falls for a breathtaking sight of the raging Nile as it forces its way through a rocky gap barely six meters wide.
This is the point where the Nile River explodes through a narrow gorge and cascades down to become a placid river. You will also have nature walk around in the park. Today you will transfer to Budongo Eco lodge for dinner and overnight.
Activities: Wildlife viewing, visiting the top of the falls and Bird Watching / Nature walk.
Breakfast in Budongo Forest – Chimpanzee Tracking a three to four-hour small group experience visiting some of the habituated Chimpanzees of Budongo Forest- spending an hour with them and observing them.
Each day, chimpanzees like gorillas move to another location for the night building new nests for that day. Budongo Forest is a project of both the Jane Goodall Institute and the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Enjoy your time with the chimpanzees. After your experience, you will return to your lodge for Lunch. In the Afternoon you can opt to go for a nature walk in the forest or relax to wash away the days walk.
